And they haven't stopped since. Pine Knob Music Theatre opened its doors in 1972, establishing a trend-setting, 13.5-acre music mecca in northern Oakland County that ushered in a new era in popular culture. The largest amphitheater of its kind at the time, Pine Knob became a home for all forms of music, from rock and pop to R&B, jazz and country and, later, hip-hop and EDM, along with family shows and special attractions in the parking lot areas. It's become a legendary stop on any act's touring itinerary and a launch pad for some of the most historic music festivals. Pine Knob hosted more than 3,100 events during its first 50 years and was named the world's top amphitheater by Pollstar in 2019. As we begin the next 50 years, join us during any one of the amazing shows this summer to experience special celebratory features including the photo retrospective exhibit outside UWM’s West Entrance. We invite you to share memories, photos, listen to 50th themed playlists, view an online version of the photo retrospective gallery, and enjoy all things 50th at Pine Knob Music Theatre here. ![Photo Exhibit Contributors](/assets/img/313-presents-photo-contributor-icon-99bd1c32fe.png) [Meet The Contributors](https://www.313presents.com/venue/pine-knob-music-theatre/50th-anniversary-photo-exhibit/credits) [![313-presents-press-icon.png](/assets/img/313-presents-press-icon-deca9792d6.png) Press Coverage](https://www.313presents.com/venue/pine-knob-music-theatre/50th-anniversary/press-coverage) [![Official Pine Knob Music Theatre Merch](/assets/img/313-presents-shop-icon-169eca3b8a.png) Official Merchandise](https://eagraphics.com/PineKnob/shop/products/all?page=1&utm_source=web&utm_medium=button&utm_campaign=merch&utm_id=PineKnob50) [![Pine Knob Music Theatre Fan Memories](/assets/img/313-presents-memories-icon-34ae27987f.png) Pine Knob Fan Memories](https://www.313presents.com/venue/pine-knob-music-theatre/50th-anniversary/memories/) [![50th Anniversary Contests](/assets/img/313-presents-contest-icon-dcbfa41514.png) Enter to Win Prizes](https://www.313presents.com/contests/detail/nutrl-50-years-50-prizes) ![313-presents-spotify-icon-v2.png](/assets/img/313-presents-spotify-icon-v2-bebc450f28.png) [Pine Knob Playlists](https://www.313presents.com/venue/pine-knob-music-theatre/50th-anniversary/playlists) ## 50th Anniversary Photo Exhibit **Brought to you by Proud Partners United Wholesale Mortgage, Trinity Health and Ally Financial** ![](https://www.313presents.com/assets/img/313-Presents-50th-Anniversary-Exhibit-David-Cassidy-600x600-05c4001c19.jpg) ### So It Begins **Featured Artists** *David Cassidy * **Featured Photographers** *Frank Pettis* [View Collection](https://www.313presents.com/venue/pine-knob-music-theatre/50th-anniversary-photo-exhibit/so-it-begins/) ![](https://www.313presents.com/assets/img/313-Presents-50th-Anniversary-Exhibit-Bob-Seger-600x600-5daf405c3e.jpg) ### 33 Bob Seger Drive **Featured Artists** *Bob Seger * **Featured Photographers** *Tom Weschler, Chris Schwegler, Darryl Pitt* [View Collection](https://www.313presents.com/venue/pine-knob-music-theatre/50th-anniversary-photo-exhibit/33-bob-seger-drive/) ![](https://www.313presents.com/assets/img/313-Presents-50th-Anniversary-Exhibit-Diana-Ross-600x600-294421f9a1.jpg) ### Home Town Music Icons **Featured Artists** *Kid Rock, Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, The Stooges, Alice Cooper, Anita Baker * **Featured Photographers** *Chris Schwegler, Marc Nader, Sue Plummer, Steve Galli, Mirak Habbiyyieh* [View Collection](https://www.313presents.com/venue/pine-knob-music-theatre/50th-anniversary-photo-exhibit/hometown-music-icons/) ![](https://www.313presents.com/assets/img/313-Presents-50th-Anniversary-Exhibit-Elton-John-600x600-b817d3bf51.jpg) ### Legends In The House **Featured Artists** *Dolly Parton, Elton John, B.B.
