Umphrey’s McGee was formed on the Notre Dame campus in South Bend, Indiana in 1997. They have released eight studio albums and sold more than 3.5 million tracks online. After releasing their eighth studio album, Similar Skin (2014), the first for their own indie label, Nothing Too Fancy (N2F) Music, the group continues to push the envelope and test the limits.
Their brand-new studio album, The London Session, was a dream come true as they recorded the album at the legendary Studio Two at historic Abbey Road in one day. The innovative group will release The London Session on April 7. The stealth recording session yielded 10 tracks, proving once again, the prolific UM waits for no one.
Umphrey’s tracked all of the music live over a 12-hour timespan, with vocals and a handful of overdubs completed upon their stateside return in Chicago and Los Angeles. Four tracks; “Eat,” “Plunger,” “Out Of Order” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”, were recorded in a single take, from top to bottom. Fans of the band will be thrilled with the offering and those unfamiliar are sure to be impressed by the miraculous feat of recording 10 tracks of such high quality in such a short time.
After celebrating their 20th anniversary as modern day rulers of old school funk, the Brooklyn-based juggernaut Lettuce is not showing any signs of slowing. Lettuce released a limited edition ‘45 featuring “Don’t Be Afraid To Try” with singer Alecia Chakour in March 2014. Having blown up stages from coast to coast, Lettuce is poised to continue their rapid growth throughout 2015.
Umphrey’s McGee with special guest Lettuce at Meadow Brook Music Festival is part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.
