Featherweight Prospect JuJu Ballo To Face Julian Gomez-Clemons In Co-Main Event At The Fox Theatre Saturday, August 29

(DETROIT – August 24, 2026) – Former top ranked U.S. amateur boxer JuJu Ballo has looked to challenge himself since entering the professional ranks just over a year ago and his August 29 bout in Detroit will be no exception. Ballo will take on Julian Gomez-Clemons in a six-round featherweight bout at the Fox Theatre live on Wynn Records Network. Comerica Bank is the exclusive presenting partner of the Fox Theatre.

Ballo-Gomez-Clemons will serve as the co-main event to the heavyweight headliner between Bryant Jennings and Brandon Moore, which sits atop a stacked card of prospects and contenders, including Ballo's cousin Jonny Mansour. The 23-year-old Ballo is coming off a main event victory on April 18 in Oceanside, Calif., and is serving as both promoter and boxer for the second straight show. Although many young fighters look for easy touches in their early bouts, Ballo has sought opponents who will challenge him and bring out his extensive skillset.

"I treat every opponent like they're the best in the opponent I've faced. I've fought guys with winning records in each of my fights," Ballo said. "I don't take anyone lightly. On August 29, I'll showcase my experience, ring IQ, and sharpness for all my fans and supporters at the Fox Theatre."

As a three-time U.S. National Champion, 2024 National Golden Gloves champion and former Youth Pan Am Games gold medalist, Ballo is accustomed to adjusting to anything his opponents bring to the ring.

"It's been a great training camp. We are working on sitting down on my shots a little bit more and slowing things down so when I get someone hurt, I finish them. My speed, range and timing are my best assets, but I want to give the fans the knockouts they want to see," Ballo said.

A proud Chaldean, Ballo is looking to shine in front of the large Iraqi contingent at the Fox Theatre on August 29. "This fight is a big fight for me. I'm representing my middle eastern culture and that's a blessing. When I win they all win," he said.
