STS9 – Hunter Brown, Jeffree Lerner, David Murphy, David Phipps and Zach Velmer – are getting ready to release their 12th album later this year on their own 1320 Records. Their latest studio EP, When The Dust Settles, was released in 2011 and debuted at #1 on the iTunes Electronic Chart and landed them on Billboard’s Top 25 album chart.
STS9 came together in Atlanta more than a decade ago and has risen to the forefront of the international music scene. Consistently ranked among Pollstar magazine’s list of top-grossing touring acts, STS9 boasts a genre-defying list of opening acts along the way, including Snoop Dogg, Bassnectar, Big Boi of Outkast and countless others. The now Santa Cruz-based quintet has sold out the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado; performed at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Coachella and Electric Daisy Carnival among many other top festivals; sold out shows across the country as an acoustic set-up in opera houses or as an electronic act in amphitheatres; performed with Jay-Z in arenas. They have also raised money for charity (including $150,000 to the Make It Right Foundation, helping rebuild a house in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans).
Fans of the Chicago-based Umphrey’s McGee know that there are only two guarantees: you never know what you’re going to get and Umphrey’s always delivers. The band, formed in 1997 at the University of Notre Dame, has cultivated a loyal fanbase, incorporating a sophisticated mix of cutting-edge technology, a stellar light show, and a multi-genre explosive experience complete with playful covers (ranging from Toto to Metallica). Their latest release ‘Death By Stereo’ (ATO Records) is a concise, melodic batch of clever arrangements with meticulously crafted chordal interplay and virtuoso instrumentation that puts Umphrey’s McGee -- Brendan Bayliss, Jake Cinninger, Joel Cummins, Andy Farag, Kris Myers and Ryan Stasik in a category all their own.
