94.7 WCSX will celebrate its 39th Anniversary when Deep Purple with special guest Kansas perform at Pine Knob Music Theatre on Friday, August 21 at 6:15 p.m. Pine Knob Music Theatre is presented by Proud Partners United Wholesale Mortgage, Trinity Health and Ally.

There simply aren't enough superlatives to properly acknowledge the contribution Deep Purple has made to rock music. Having sold more than 100 million albums and filled global stadiums and arenas for decades, the band was presented the 'Legend Award' at the 2008 World Music Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

With a body of work spanning seven decades, Deep Purple has helped pioneer and define the hard rock genre. The celebrated MKII line up of Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore were responsible for creating many of the defining rock albums of the early 70's, including Made In Japan, universally accepted as one of the most important and influential live albums of all time.

With a legendary career spanning five decades, Kansas has firmly established itself as one of America's iconic classic rock bands. Having sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, Kansas produced quadruple-Platinum single Carry On Wayward Son and triple-Platinum single Dust in the Wind. Carry On Wayward Son continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and "Dust In the Wind" has been played on the radio more than three million times.
