How to help during COVID-19

There are many ways to help our community during the COVID-19 crisis. Consider donating to these local and national charities who provide assistance for those in crisis and have stepped up during the global pandemic to elevate their support and sustain their mission. 

Due to the recent tragedy in the Oxford Community, an Oxford Community and Memorial Victims Fund has been established to accept donations for the families and communities in the tragic loss of four high school students. More information on how to donate can be found by clicking this link.

Little Caesars, the global family-owned pizza chain announced a 1 million pizza donation to healthcare workers and first responders. Additionally, its customers have contributed over 250,000 pizzas and counting to the effort by donating via their app and on through the #Pieitforward campaign.

Through Farm Bureau Insurance’s ongoing “We’re in This Together” initiative, they have  developed an Economic Give Back program, which will give back over $5 million to members across the state as they support local businesses in our communities.

Founders Brewing Co.

Founders Brewing Co. partnered with the Michigan Hospitality Industry Employee Relief Fund to raise money for restaurant, bar and lodging workers who have been greatly impacted by COVID-19. To raise money, Founders designed an exclusive line of work-from-home comfort wear with the message “Fill the Tip Jar.”

Meijer is working with local health departments and emergency response teams to manage the distribution of the pandemic protection gear. The masks from Meijer will go to government agencies, hospital systems, law enforcement agencies and other first responders in many of the communities Meijer serves, primarily in Michigan and Ohio.

MotorCity Casino gave more than 5,000 pounds, or 23 pallets, of food to Forgotten Harvest. Additionally, the casino announced it was donating 6,000 sanitizing wipes and 8,000 gloves to DDOT bus drivers.
