Fox Theatre Volunteer Opportunities

Join over 500 volunteer ushers as they provide world-class service to all guests visiting Detroit’s Fox Theatre! With over 200 events annually, such as Broadway shows, concerts, dance, comedy, and family entertainment there is always an opportunity to join our supporting cast!

Requirements
All Volunteer Ushers must:
- Be 18 years or older.
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and during “bad” weather.
- Display a friendly, positive attitude and good manners in any situation.
- Ability to walk, climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and not have a fear of heights.
- Ability to read tickets in a dark theatre with a flashlight.
- Be able to fulfill an entire shift, often lasting multiple hours and sometimes late into the evening.
- Have a valid email address that is checked frequently and access to the internet.
Assignments/Attendance:
- New volunteers will be assigned to a specific volunteer team.
- Each team is assigned to work approximately two (2) or three (3) days per month.
- Teams are assigned to individual shows on a rotating basis, not by day-of-the-week.
- Events take place all year-round at the Fox, with the majority taking place between September and June.
- Ushers are asked to prioritize their team’s assignments (and assist assigned events whenever able), however volunteers are also welcome to sign-up to work shows that have not been assigned to their team.
- Ushers are expected to log their anticipated attendance for events online at least 10 days prior to the event.
