Pine Knob Classics

The ritual of summer outdoor concerts is as much about the experience as the music, so it's no surprise that many artists became regulars on Pine Knob’s schedule. The Doobie Brothers have logged 53 shows since 1974, with Jackson Browne – a frequent visitor since 1973 – joining them on stage in 1978 when both played back to back. Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band have brought Margaritaville to Pine Knob 34 times, while James Taylor has dropped in 33 – and both have featured Bonnie Raitt as an opening act in addition to her own dates. Santana has brought along friends like the Doobies, Steve Winwood and Jeff Beck during its 28 appearances, and Linda Ronstadt has played with everything from a rock band to the Nelson Riddle Orchestra and a mariachi troupe during her concerts. Crosby, Stills & Nash did not waste any of their 18 shows on the way, while cohort Neil Young played Pine Knob with Crazy Horse, Booker T. & the MGs and solo – and broke curfew in a big way during a 2015 show backed by Promise of the Real.
